Shade, leaving Kia's side reluctantly, left for his mission to find Fate.
After that night, Ruler Shade left his castle to go on a solitary journey. Bringing with him nothing more than his clothes, his sword, and a little bit of money, Shade was going to find Fate, even if it killed him.
Not knowing where to start, he headed off to the nearest village. "How can I find Fate?" He asked everyone, everywhere. But no one had a direct answer.
"She's in the clouds." One said.
"You can find her floating around anywhere." Another said.
Shade was confused by their responses and got no where.
After a week, he was sitting in a small clearing in a calm forest. Sighing and pulling out his sword, he started sharpening at. Scrape after scrape after scrape... Over and over again. As he continued on like this for some time, he realized someone was watching him.
"Who goes there?" He called out, stopping his scraping and looking around.
"No fear, it is I. A wandering bard is all."
"A bard?"
"A wandering poet, or minstrel of sorts." The mysterious man said. He was leaning against a tree, his clothes quite normal and plain. Shade looked wearily at him.
"What do you need?"
"I heard about your inquiries about the one named...Fate." He said. Shade looked up at him, startled. How had he known? Had he been following him?
"...Y-Yes. Why?"
"I thought, that I could give you a piece of advice."
"And it is...?" Shade asked.
"Fate...can never be found." The man walked closer and leaned in Shade's face, causing him to lean back a little. "She will find you, if that's what she decides."
"...What?" Completely mystified and even more confused, Shade thought this man's advice was less useful than some of the advice of the village people. "Well, thanks for the advice. What's your name, anyway?"
"My name is not important. Follow your heart, Ruler Shade." Chuckling a little, the bard retreated back to the trees.
"Wait! Hang on!" Reaching out his hand toward the man, Shade watched as he disappeared completely. He slouched back down. He sighed. If this goes on, he would never be able to save Kia...
As a raindrop fell on his head, his spirits sank even deeper. "Dammit Fate! Why can't I find you! If you're supposed to find me, apparently, then come!" Yelling as loud as his lungs allowed, he was annoyed at the Immortal.
As the rain started coming down harder, Shade couldn't stop another tear rolling down his cheek. "Dammit, all I want to do is save Kia. Can't I even do that now?" Dropping on his knees, he hung his head, tired, beat, and desperate. He knew, though, that he would not give up till he found Fate yet.
Taking a deep breath, he could feel his body fill with renewed energy, or at lease he convinced himself it was filling. He raised his arm high above his head and beckoned. "Come get me, Fate!"
